Family History

He was the son of Henry (died 1889) and Jane Syson and the brother of Francis, Eliza and Fred Syson. The family lived at 52 Wicklow Street Old Basford Nottingham in 1881, 34 Wicklow Street in 1891 and 2a King's Yard Wicklow Street in 1901. Henry married Florence Susan Hyams (born 21st October 1885)( in 1908 at Nottingham they had two daughters Florence Eveline born 1908 and Cornelia Syson born 911 In 1911 the family lived at 40 Wicklow Street, Old Basford, Henry 31 yrs is a lace bleacher he is married to Florence 25 yrs and their 2 daughters, Florence 2 yrs and Cornelia under one month. Commencing 13th May 1918 his wiow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military History

Private Henry Syson enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Old Basford, he served with the 1/8th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He died of wounds on 4th November 1917 and is buried at Noeux Les Mines Communal Cemetery Extension Grave Reference: II A 12
