He was the son of Henry and Mary Leaper and the brother of Victor and Maud Leaper. In 1901 they lived at 9 High Street Old Basford Nottingham. He was the husband of Ethel Maria (née Townsend) Leaper (later Oliver) and the father of Ethel Leaper. In 1911 they lived on Laurie Avenue Nottingham. Ethel Oliver later lived at of 59 Barr Street Rangoon Burma.

Military History

Gunner John Alfred Leaper, 221st Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery, was killed in action on 6th July 1917. He is buried in Bus House Cemetery.
