William Isaac Fox was born in 1893 at Nottingham, He was the son of John a wicker furniture maker and Betsy Fox née Green of 33 Ekowe Street, New Basford, Nottingham His father John was born in 1870 at Thurmaston, Leicestershire, his mother Betsy Green was born in 1871 at Asfordby, Leicestershire, they were married on 1st September 1890 at Thurmaston and went on to have 5 children. In the 1911 census the family are living at 91 Egypt Road, Basford, Nottingham, John 40 yrs is a wicker furniture maker, he is living with his wife Betsy 40 yrs and their children, Robert 20 yrs a dairyman, William Isaac 17 yrs an apprentice wheelwright and John Henry 13 yrs a hosiery worker,

Military History

Lance Corporal William Isaac Fox enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the Black Watch and landed in France on 25th August 1914 and was killed in action on 21st March 1918, he is buried at Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France.
