Arthur Draper was born in 1884 at Nottingham, he was the son of John a coal dealer and Harriett Elizabeth Draper née Allen of 5 Malt Cottages, Eland Street, Basford, his father John was born in 1861 at Nottingham, his mother Harriett Elizabeth Allen was born in 1862 at Nottingham, they were married in 1882 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district, they had 5 children, Arthur b1884, Annie b1885, Fred b1887, Ada b1890 and Samuel Allen b1891.

Military History

Arthur Draper served as Arthur Baker, he enlisted at Peterborough, he served with the 2nd battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 9th May 1915, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial Belgium.

His brother Private Samuel Allen Draper 7th Bn King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment)Samuel Allen was killed on 31 July 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium (Panel 12).
