Norman Henry Bright

Although born in Ebbw Vale, Norman Bright’s family lived in Worksop at sometime during the war as his father was at that time a Supernumerary Methodist Minister based in the town. A bank clerk in Lincoln before the war, L/Cpl Bright was serving in the 1st/4th Territorial Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment of the 46th North Midland Division at the date of his death on 15 October 1915 when the Division was attempting the impossible task, without adequate support, of taking the Hohenzollern Redoubt in the aftermath of the Battle of Loos. He was one of 387 other ranks killed out of his battalion and is buried at Chocques Military Cemetery in France. Courtesy of Robert Illett.
