He was the son of Thomas and Annie Stubbins and the brother of Jack, Ernest and Wilfred Stubbins. He was the step brother of Mabel Allcroft. In 1901 they lived at Cresswell Road Lodge Norton Cuckney Nottinghamshire. He was the husband of Rosa Alice (née Elliott) Stubbins and the father of James Francis and Irene Elsie Stubbins. In 1911 they lived at Pump Hollow Forest Town Mansfield Nottinghamshire.
