Edward Upton Bell was born in 1899 the son of Robert a gardener and verger and Ada Bell née Pears, Mount Pleasant, Radcliffe on Trent. Robert Bell was born in 1876 at Highgate, London, Ada Pears was born in 1875 at Cotgrave, they were married in 1898 in Nottingham, they had 5 children, Samuel Ernest b1901, Sarah Elizabeth b1904, George Charles b1908 and John Alfred b1911. In 1911 the family are living at Mount Pleasant, Radcliffe on Trent, Robert 35 yrs is a verger, living with his wife Ada 36 yrs and their 5 children. Radcliffe's verger. Funeral held 23 September 1922. Medal Roll only. Date of death unknown July August Sept 1922

Military History

Private Edward Upton Bell served with the Grenadier Guards, he was discharged from the Army on 28th November 1919 due to tuberculosis and died on 22nd September 1922. He was buried on 23rd September 1922 at Radcliffe on Trent.

Extra Information

Edward Bell died on 22.9.1922 of tuberculosis of the lung. He was an army pensioner. The death was registered by his brother George Bell, who would have been fourteen years old.He was still alive when the Radcliffe on Trent war memorial was unveiled in March 1921.
