Thomas Arthur Derry was baptised on 19th February 1882 at Christ Church, Lichfield he was the son of Charles a jobbing gardener and Harriet Derry nee Sutton of 8 Townfields, Lichfield, Staffordshire. Charles was born in 1847 at Lichfield, Harriet Sutton was born in 1842 at Harlaston, Staffordshire, they were married in 1868 their marriage was recorded in the Tamworth registration district, they went on to have 4 children. in 1911 his parents are living at 8 Townfields, Lichfield, Charles is 64 a jobbing gardener he is living with his wife Harriet 69 yrs. In 1917 Thomas married Agnes Banham they lived at the Orchard, Hoveringham. Commencing 25th November 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week
Private Thomas Arthur Derry enlisted at Carlton whilst residing at Hoveringhm, he was Killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 36, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact) Commemorated: Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
