Family History

Fred Dawson was born in 1881 the son of Thomas Chapman and Sarah Dawson. In 1901 Fred was working at Easby Hall Great Ayton Yorkshire and ten years later at Bretton Lodge near Wakefield on Barker's farm. In 1912 he married Elsie Mary Durdy (born 28th March 1886 ) who lived at 'Rose Cottage' Harworth they had a daughter Margaret born 2nd August 1915. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 7th January 1918.

Military History

Fred enlisted at Wakefield and served in France. He died in hospital of illness contracted while serving on the Western Front and was buried in Harworth churchyard.
