In the 1901 and 1911 census, a Henry Reynolds (born 1841 Alford, Lincs) was living as a widower with his single daughter’s Edith and Beatrice in Finningley. Henry had previously had several children including a son, Joseph, born in 1882 at North Carlton, Lincs. A year after the youngest, Beatrice, was born in 1888, Henry’s wife died and he moved to Finningley. By now, the remaining 6 children had left. home, Including Joseph. Joseph was working as a Waggoner on a farm at Scawsby, Brodsworth, near Doncaster in 1901 and as a labourer in Lincoln in 1911. It can be concluded, that Joseph Reynolds joined up and died in the war and his father had his named engraved on the memorial to be remembered. .
