Family History

Frank Garnett was born in Finningley in 1892. His parents were Samuel and Ann Garnett (nee Scholes of Blaxton) and he had 4 elder brothers and 3 sisters. When Frank was 3 years old his mother died aged just 35 and when 18, he was lodging at Kirk Sandal, Doncaster working as a farm servant. It appears that he moved on to Wakefield prior to his enlistment at Pontefract. He lived just long enough to see the marriage of his sister, Sarah Jane, to Charles Drinkall, another soldier on the Finningley Roll of Honour, in 1915, before being killed. A sister of his, Sarah Jane, married
