Family History

Robert Price was born in 1889 in Egmanton and was the son of William a farmer and Mary Price, née Clarke. His father William Price was born in 1856 in Egmanton and his mother Mary Ann Clarke was born in 1851 in Cropwell Bishop, they were married in 1879 their marriage was recorded in the East Retford District, they went on to have 4 children all of whom were born at Egmanton, Lily b1883, Minne b1885, William b1887 and Robert b1889. In the 1911 census the family are living at Egmanton and are shown as William 55 yrs a farmer, he is living with his wife Mary 60 yrs and their children Lily 28 yrs assisting in the dairy works, Minnie 26 yrs a supplementary teacher and Robert 22 yrs an assistant on the farm, also living at the address are two servants , Bert Cobb 21 yrs a horseman on the farm and George Skelton 16 yrs a cow boy on the farm.

Military History

Private Robert Price enlisted at Retford and served with the 8th battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He died on 11th June 1918 and s buried in Hamburg Cemetery, Hamburg, Germany, grave reference 2.C.10
