Family History

Robert was born in 1895 at Everton and was the son of John a bricklayer and Annie Stevenson, (nee Winks) of Everton, Doncaster. They had a large family having ten children in all. In the 1901 census the family are living at Bawtry Road, Everton Robert is 6 years of age. By the 1911 census the family are still living at Everton, John still a bricklayer and his wife Anne and six of their children the two eldest sons Horace and John are both bricklayers like their father , Robert now 16 years of age and a butchers apprentice and Olive - Lizzie and Kathleen.

Military History

Robert enlisted and served with the 2nd battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and was killed in action on 7th September 1918. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois memorial, Pas De Calais, France.
