Family History

George Henry Warrener was born in 1889 in Marnham, a township in the East Retford district. His parents, Albert Warrener and Lettice Fletcher had married in the Retford area in 1887. George had an elder brother, Sidney and after moving to Laxton around 1890, had a sister, Violet born 1891. By 1895 the family were resident in West Drayton where Archie was born. Their father, Albert died in 1895 age 30 and five years later, their mother, Letty remarried to Howard Johnson. In 1901 George and Archie were living in West Drayton with their mother and step father whilst their other two siblings were living with their maternal grandparents in Tuxford. By 1911 George and Archie had left the family home leaving their mother, step father and their half brother, William, resident near Tuxford.

Military History

George enlisted at Lincoln and went to France on the 5th November 1914. He died of his wounds at No. 6 Clearing Station and was buried in Merville Communal Cemetery, France 1.G.7
