William was born in 1897 in Beckingham, the son of Herbert a farmer and Louisa Harrison, of The Woods Farm, Beckingham,. In the 1911 census he is shown living with his family at The Woods farm ,he is 13 years of age and a scholar, he has 4 siblings.
William enlisted into the army in Nottingham and served with the 1st battalion,Leicestershire Regiment ,he died on Tuesday, 8th October 1918 - aged 21, The village of Montbrehain France was in the front line, and changed hands several times.High Tree Cemetery, Montbrehain, where William Harrison is buried, is just outside the village, and contains 48 graves (3 of which are unidentified), all of whom were killed in October 1918.
