Employment, Education or Hobbies While at Uppingham School he was captain of the football team and played for his college while at Oxford. He was was also very musical and was leader of the orchestra at Uppingham school
Family History

Anthony was born at Bawtry in 1894 the son John a solicitor and Dorothy Mary Walker, they had 4 children and lived at The Hall,Bawtry . In the 1911 census Anthony is a boarder at Uppingham School, Rutland .Three of Mr and Mrs Walker’s sons served in the war. Two sons, Captain John W Walker and 2/Lt Anthony T Walker, were killed but the third, Evelyn D Walker, survived. Captain Walker and 2/Lt Walker are also commemorated on the memorial in St Nicholas, Blyth, church and the Bawtry memorial

Military History

He joined the Public schools battalion ,Middlesex Regiment in August 1914 where he was a lance corporal but was soon commissioned on 2nd December 1914 as Second Lieutenant into the Rifle Brigade . He went to France on 25th July 1915 and was killed at Hooge on 30th July 1915 the day after joining his battalion.This is a copy of the obituary from the Worksop Guardian :- Second-Lieutenant A T Walker Worksop Guardian 6 August 1915Information has been received that Second-Lieutenant A T Walker, son of Mr John Walker, Solicitor, Bawtry, has been killed in action. He was a fine scholar, had distinguished himself at school and college, and was an enthusiastic athlete. He was educated at Dulwich College Preparatory School and from there won an open scholarship at Uppingham School. When he left there he was head of the school and captain of the football team. He secured an open scholarship and exhibition at University College, Oxford, and on the outbreak of war he was granted a commission in the Rifle Brigade, He only joined his battalion in the trenches on the day before he was killed. The Lieutenant’s brother is a Captain in the 5th Battalion of the K,O,Y.L.I. and is at the front.
