Family History

Arthur was born in Bawtry in 1887 ,he was married to Carline May and they had a son. He lived on Church Street,Bawtry with his family and he was a postman when war broke out .Following his death his wife re married a man called Prince and went to live at 6, Stanley Rd., Stamshaw, Portsmouth

Military History

Arthur was in army reserves when war broke out and was recalled to the colours on 5th August 1914 and was wounded in action near Mons, he was subsequently taken prisoner on 14th September 1914. The infantry record office at Litchfield Station on 14th April 1915 reported that he had died on 22nd January 1915 at Kriegsgefangenen Lazarette,Alexandrinen Strasse 1/12/13 Berlin. He was later buried at Berlin Garns Cemetery .He left a wife and son surviving.
