Family History

Sidney was the son of James a farmer and Sarah Ellen Abson and the brpther of Jessie, Frances Mary and James Abson. In 1911 they were living at Top Street Bawtry.

Military History

He was called up to the Army on 20th January 1916 at Pontefract and served with the 2nd Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He was first reported missing and subsequently reported as being killed in action on 18th November 1916.

He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
