Oliver Frank was born in 1890 the son of George a water man for Great Northern Railway and canals and Elizabeth Ellen Daniels (née Toplis), of 105 Moorgreen Newthorpe Nottinghamshire. His father was born in 1851 at Low Dunsforth, Yorkshire, his mother (known as Ellen ) in 1854 at Heanor Derbyshire. Married in 1873 they had thirteen children eleven surviving infancy: William b.1876 Eastwood, Ernest b.1878 Eastwood, Martha b.1881 Greasley, Beatrice b.1883 Greasley, Thomas b.1885 Greasley, Frederick b.1886 Greasley, Percy b.1888 Greasley, Oliver Frank b.1890 Newthorpe (killed in action 28/2/1917), Cecil b.1892 Newthorpe (died after military service 24/3/1919), Harry b.1894 Newthorpe and Dora b.1896 Greasley. In 1911 they lived at High Park Cottages Greasley.

Daniels enlisted in Nottingham and is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial, Somme.
