Family History

George Jackson Spencer was born in 1892 the son of Sarah Elizabeth Orchard (formerly Spencer) and George William Orchard (stepfather) of 17, Randolph Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham. In 1901 the family lived at 7, Gawthorne Street, Basford. George Orchard was a tram driver. In 1911 George Spencer lived with his widowed grandmother Mary Spencer (64) at 12, Digby Street, Ilkeston Junction. She became his sole legatee.

Military History

George Jackson Spencer enlisted at Derby and landed in France on 14th July 1915. Thiepval Memoria:l Pier and Face 10C 10D and 11A
