Family History

John Wilfred Severn was born in 1894 the son of Charlie a colliery clerk and Annie Sarah Severn (née Hobley). Charles was born in 1871 at Cossall, Annie Sarah Holbley in 1873 at Langley Mill, Derbyshire. Married 15/8/1892 at Heanor, they had seven children all of whom were born in Kimberley except their last child Dorothy who was born in Cossall. They were John Wilfred b.1895, Charles Cyril b.1898, Frederick Joseph b.1900, Annie b.1903, Frank b.1906 and Dorothy b.1909. In 1911, they lived at Cossall. Charles was a miner.

Military History

John Wilfred Severn enlisted at Coventry and landed in France on 31st March 1915. He died of his wounds on 20th October 1915 and is buried in Couin British Cemetery Grave Reference: 4.C.16
