Harry Swift

Harry Swift was born in 1877 at Bramcote and was the son of Sarah Swift née Hazeldine and the late Andrew Swift of Bramcote. His father Andrew was born in 1840 in Langar and his mother Sarah Hazeldine was born in 1841 in Bramcote, they were married on 4th July 1867,in Bingham their marriage was recorded in the Langar Registration District. They went on to have the following children, William b1869, Walter b1870, Amy Jane b1873, Henry b1877 and George b1879 all the children were born at Bramcote. Harry Swift married his wife Mary Ann Clarke on 6th June 1908 at the parish church, Barrow in Furness, they went on to have 4 children, Winifred May born 7th April 1909, Thorold George 25th January 1911, Walter Andrew born 22nd September 1913 and Harry George born 11th June 1918, they lived at Main Street, Bramcote. In the 1911 census the family are living at Main Street, Bramcote and are shown as Harry 34 yrs a carpenters labourer, he is living with is wife Mary Ann 39 yrs and their two children Winifred MAY 2 yrs and Thorold George 2 months His widow Mary Ann was to receive a letter dated 14th October 1918 informing her she would be receiving a pension of 33 shillings and 9 pence a week in respect of her and her 4 children with effect from 11th November 1918
