Family History

Percy Hewitt was born in 1888 and was baptised on 29th March 1888. He was the son of Frank Mitchell Peadon a lace manufacturer and Rhoda Peadon (née Hewitt). His father and mother were both born in 1866 in Nottingham. Married in 1887, they had four children three surviving infancy - Percy b,1888 Long Eaton, Nellie b,1890 Long Eaton and Frank Bernard b.1894 Radford . In 1911, they lived at 36, Clinton Street, Beeston. Percy married Louisa Gertrude Peadon (née Ellington) in 1912 at Nottingham and they lived at 5 Park Street, Long Eaton, Derbyshire with their two daughters Rhoda M born 1913 and Joyce G born 1918.

Military History

Percy Hewitt Peadon served with 'A' Companyand died of multiple gunshot wounds. Doullens Communal Cemetery Extension No. 1. Grave Reference: VI A 27He was Commissioned from the ranks on 28th August 1917, having served with 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment on the Western Front since 26th January 1915.

Obituaries published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 10th April 1918 :- “PEADON. – On April 7th, 1918, Sec. Lieut. P. H. Peadon, the dearly loved husband of Gertrude L. Pearson, of 5, Park-street, Long Eaton, died of wounds.“PEADON. – On April 7th, 1918, Sec.-Lieut. P. H. Peadon, the dearly loved eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. N.
