Family History

Albert Edward Mee was born in 1885 the son of Henry (died 1894 aged 49) a milk seller and Sarah Ann Mee (née Cooper). Married in1867, they had seven children - Joseph b.1870 Chilwell, Henry b.1872 Chilwell, Frances b.1878 Beeston, Richard b.1883 Beeston, Albert b.1885 Beeston, Mary Ann b.1886 Beeston and Alice b.1889 Beeston. In 1910, Albert married Edith Morris and they had two children – Clara (1911) and Albert Morris (1914). In 1911, they lived at 27, Middleton Street, Beeston. Edith was a lace mender. Boarding with them were Frank and Rose Harbour and their infant son Frank.

Military History

Albert Edward Mee enlisted at Nottingham and landed in France on 6th September 1915. Three months later, he was posted to Salonica where he contracted enteric fever. Following hospital treatment in Malta and then Manchester, he returned to the Western Front and and died of wounds at 53 CCs from wounds received near Hazebrouck. He is buried in Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension, Bailleul, Grave Reference: 2 C 13
