Family History

Henry was born in 1861 at Radford, his mother in 1862 at Nottingham. Married in 1881, eleven of their twelve children survived infancy. James married Elizabeth Ellen Burton in 1907 and they had five children - James b.1907 William b.1907, Cyril b.1908, Elizabeth b.1909 and Florence b.1910. In 1911, they lived at 20, Myrtle Grove, Beeston. Although James is listed at the address, his name had been crossed out. It would appear that he was a prisoner at Nottingham Bagthorpe Prison where he is shown as being 30 yrs of age and a lace hand twist. Also imprisoned at Bagthorpe was his father Henry aged fifty.

Military History

James Kerry enlisted at Nottingham, initially serving (16/26692) with the Sherwood Foresters. He later transferrd to the King's Shropshire Light Infantry. He was killed on 21 September 1918 and is buried in Tincourt New British Cemetery (grave reference: VIII E 17).
