Family History

Fred was born in 1886 the son of Robert a lace curtain maker and Annie Bust (née Owen). His father was born in 1858 at Halam, Nottinghamshire, his mother in 1863 at Burnley Lancashire. Married in 1883, they had five children, four surviving infancy - Robert Owen b.1884, Nottingham, Lucy b.1888 Nottingham, Fred b.1886 Hyson Green and Harold b.1903 Southwell. In 1911, they lived at 127 High Road Beeston.

Military History

Fred Bust attested on 11th December 1915 at Beeston. The following day he was posted to the reserves. He was mobilised on 21st February 1916 and posted to the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters on 23rd February 1916 with service number 36163. On 14th April 1916 he was transferred to the Royal Scots. He landed in France on 8th June 1917 and was killed in action on 4th December 1917. Cambrai Memorial, Louverval.

Extra Information

His brother Robert Owen Bust also served during the Great War with the Sherwood Foresters Regiment before transferring to the King's Shropshire Light Infantry. He survived the war .
