Thomas Henry Buckley

CWGC: Thomas Buckley. He was the son of David and the late Johanna Buckley of St. Joseph's Road, Mallow, Co. Cork. (CWGC) David Buckley probably married Johanna (née Byrne) in 1885 (J/F/M Macroom Cork Ireland) and their son Thomas was born in Mallow, County Cork, in 1886 (J/A/S Mallow). The CWGC record suggests that Johanna may have predeceased her son and a 1901 Census record confirms this: Keatleys Close, Mallow, Cork. Occupants: Patrick Connell (77) agricultural labourer and Nora Connell (55). Timothy Cronin servant. David Buckley (40 b. 1861) widower, farmer, with children; Thomas Buckley (15) scholar, Ellen Buckley (10), John Buckley (8), Dora Buckley (4). Also Mary Hennessey (18), laundress, described as a step-daughter although it is not clear whether this is her relationship to Patrick Connell or to David Buckley as both men are described as 'head of family'. In 1911 Thomas (25 b. Mallow Ireland) was one of two boarders living at 6 Hall Croft, Beeston, in the household of John Grogan (41 b. Hrogh Daumore Ireland) and Mary Grogan (49 b. County Galway Ireland) married one year. Thomas was working as a moulder's labourer at an iron foundry.
