Clarence Edward was born in 1899 in Beeston and was the son of Edward William a coal carter and Anne Maria Barnes and the brother of Bert Barnes. In 1911, they lived at 46, South Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Military History

Clarence Edward Barnes enlisted at Stapleford. He initially served with number 3880 in the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment, later transferring to the 2nd battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 9th October 1917. (No record can be found of him in the CWGC system.)
