Frederick Adcock was born in 1899 the son of Walter an iron foundry labourer and Jane Adcock (née Norris). Walter was born in 1866 at Chilwell, Jane Norris in 1867 at Harley, Leicestershire. Married on 22nd December 1889 at Attenborough, they had the following children all of whom were born in Chilwell - Grace b.1891, Walter Russell Frank b.1894, Harold b.1896, Fred b.1899, Gertrude Lizzie b.1901, Doris b.1906 and Edna Ivy b.1908. In 1911, the family lived at 41, Stoney Street, Beeston, Nottingham. Ethel was a lace mender, Grace a laundress, Russell a labourer and Harold a lace threader.
Frederick Adcock attested at Ilkeston on 2nd March 1916 He was posted to the reserves and called up on 14th April 1917 and posted to the Training Reserve. He was posted to the 3rd Battalion Durham Light Infantry on 1st December 1917 . He went to France on 30th January 1918 and transferred to the 2nd Battalion Durham Light Infantry on 2nd February 1918. He went missing in action on 21st March 1918 However, he was not deemed to have died until later. Arras Memorial Bay 8
His brother Walter Adcock enlisted at Nottingham and was killed 7/9/1916 near Ovillers on the Somme.
