John William Knott

John William Knott was born in 1878 at Balderton and was the son of John a general labourer and Mary Knott née Birdon of Club Row, Balderton. His father John was born in 1851 was born in Wansford, Northamptonshire and his mother Mary Ann Birdon was born in 1853 at Balderton, they were married in 1873 at Newark and had the following children, Amelia b1874, John 1878 and Martha b1882 all were born at Balderton. John William married his wife Harriet Ann Burden (born 28th September 1872 ) in 1905 at Newark they lived at 7 West End Terrace Balderton, his wife brought two children to their marriage Ruth Burden b1895 and Joe Burden 1903 , they went on to have two further children, Christopher Knott b1908 and George b1910 all were born in Balderton. In the 1911 census John William Knott and his famiiy are living at 7 West End Terrace, Balderton and are shown as John William 33 yrs a quarryman, he is living with his wife Harriett Ann 38 yrs and their children, Ruth Burden (step daughter) 16 yrs a dress maker, Joe Burden 8 yrs a scholar, Christopher Knott 3 yrs and George Knott 8 months old. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 28 shillings and 9 pence a week commencing on 12th November 1917.
