William Norman Hill (junior) was born in 1890 at Warsop and was the son of William Norman Hill (senior) and Harriet Hill née Richardson of 3 Windmill Cottages, Warsop. His father William Norman (senior) was born in 1855 at Edwinstowe, his mother Harriett Richardson was born in 1880 also at Edwinstowe, they were married in 1880 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell Registration district, they went on to have the following children, Mary Kate b1881, Elizabeth b1883, Thomas b1884, Harriett Agnes b1888, William Norman b1890, George Herbert b1897 and Stanley Edwardb1902, all were born in Warsop. In the 1911 census the family are living at 3 Windmill Cottages, Warsop and are shown as William Norman Hill 56 yrs an estate worker, he is living with his wife Harriett 31 yrs and their children, William Norman 21 yrs a farm labourer, George Herbert 14 yrs an estate labourer and Stanley Edward 9 yrs a scholar.
Private William Norman Hill enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Warsop, he initially served with the service number 42269 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 12th October 1918 whilst serving with the 6th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and is buried at Naves Communal Cemetery Extention,
