Extra Information

Letter printed in the Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser; 20/04/1916. "Dear Mrs Harrison, I deeply regret to inform you that your husband was killed while on duty this morning, by a shrapnel bullet. The doctor tells me he died an hour after he had been hit; he was unconscious the whole time, and he did not suffer at all. He is being buried tomorrow. Driver Harrison was thought very highly of in the battery and all the Officers, NCOs and men join with me in expressing their sorrow at your great loss. I am returning his private effects. Yours sincerely, M. Ambrose."
