Family History

Harold Archibald Sissons was born in 1899 he was the son of Harold a coal miner and Anne Sissons née Bowman Webster of 5 Sherwood Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. Harold was born in 1875 at Pleasley, Annie Bowman Webster was born in 1876 at Bonsall, they were married on 16th October 1893 at Bonsall, they went on to have 8 children, sadly three died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family were living at 125 Bake Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, Harold is 36 yrs and a coal miner, he is living with his wife Annie 35 yrs and their 5 children.

Military History

Private Harold Archibald Sissons enlisted in Derby, he initially served with the West Riding Regiment (39002) later transferring to the 7/8th battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France.
