George Playfoot

George Playfoot was born in 1884 at Warsop he was the son of Thomas a stone carter and Fanny Matilda Playfoot née Ball of Green Hill Terrace, Warsop. Thomas was born in 1852 at Winteringham, Lincolnshire, Fanny Matilda Ball was born in 1854 at Warsop they were married on 9th October 1877 at St Peters Church, Warsop they went on to have 9 children sadly 1 died in infancy. In 1911 the family were living at 31 Green Hill Terrace, Warop, Thomas is 59 yrs is a stone carter he is living with his wife Fanny 55 yrs and 3 of their children. George married Elizabeth Ellen Heseltine Robinson (born 26th October 1875) on 29th May 1908 at St Edmunds Church, Mansfield Woodhouse, his wife brought 3 children to the marriage, Alfred, Ethel and William Robinson, they lived at 30 Coke Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. They went on to have a daughter Grace Beatrice born 12th February 1910 , in the 1911 census the family are living at 49 Leeming Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse, George 21 yrs is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Elizabeth Ellen 35 yrs and children Grace Beatrice 1 year old and Alfred Robinson (stepson ) 14 yrs a coal miner pony driver, Ethel Robinson 12 yrs a scholar (stepdaughter) and William Robinson 8 yrs (stepson) Commencing 8th April 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shilings and 9 pence a week.
