Albert Ernest Hart was born in 1888 he was the son of George William a railway station master and his first wife Emma Hart née Short. His father George William was born in 1861 at Great Barford, Bedfordshire, Emma Short was born in 1856 at Walcot, Lincolnshire, she died in 1902 aged 46 yrs they had 9 children. In 1911 Albert Ernest Hart is 22 yrs of age, he has left his family home, he is living at 66 Bell House Road, Sheffield with his uncle John Robert Hunt 51 yrs a furnaceman, he is a railway porter. Albert Ernest married Mabel Nixon (born 10th November 1890) in 1913 at Mansfield, they had 2 children, Dora born 15th January 1914 and Beryl born 16th November 1915. they lived at 3 Common Lane Mansfield Woodhouse, Commencing 29th April 1918 his widow was awarded a pensio of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week. In 1925 Mabel married John Samuel Wass. Mabel had lived at 59 Common Lane Mansfield Woodhouse.
Private Albert Ernest Hart enlisted at Mansfield he served with the 9th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, He was wounded during the battalion's successful attack on Poelcappelle near Ypres on 4 October 1917. He was moved through the medical chain to the Casualty Clearing Station at Dozinghem. He died there and was buried in the attached cemetery by which time the battalion had already left the Ypres salient.
