Frederick Austin Wright Fensom was born in 1898 he was the son of Thomas a brick layer and Mary Jane Fensom née Milband of 116 Blake Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. Thomas was born in 1857 at Luton, Mary Jane Milband was born in 1863 at Nether Broughton. Leicestershire, they were married on 6th October 1881 at St Ann's parish church, Nottingham. they went on to have 14 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at 116 Blake Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, Thomas is 54 yrs a bricklayer he is living with his wife Mary Jane 48 yrs and their children including Frederick Austin Wright 13 yrs

Military History

Private Frederick Fensom enlisted at Mansfield, he initially served with the Sherwood Foresters (82754), then transferred to the Royal West Kent Regiment (G/19499) and then the Tank Corp. He was killed in action on 22nd August 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial. .
