Family History

Frederick was born in 1875 in West Hallam and was the son of George a coal miner and Mary Bancroft née Brewin . His father George was born in 1831 in West Hallam and his mother Mary was born in 1851 in Loughborough, they were married in 1870 in the Shardlow Registration district. They went on to have eight sons, they were :- George b1872, Fred b1875, Arthur b1880, Herbert b1882, Robert b1884, James b1887, Wilfred born 1890 and Caleb b1894 , all the children were born in West Hallam. His wife was Kate, nee Glenn, married 1903 at Shardlow. She lived in Ilkeston. His brother Arthur lived at New Victoria Street, Mansfield. Their other brother, Wilfred, served and died after discharge in 1917.
