Family History

Frank Harris was born in 1894 he was the son of Arthur a coal miner hewer and Sarah Harris née Pearce of 38 Layton Avenue, Mansfield. Arthur was born in 1864 at Underwood, Sarah Pearce was born in 1866 at Netherfield, they were married in 1886 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have 13 children, sadly 3 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at of 19 Park Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse, Arthur 47 yrs is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Sarah 45 yrs and their 10 children, Frank Henry is 17 yrs and is a shop assistant.

Military History

Private Frank Henry Harris enlisted at Mansfield, he served with th1/5th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 14th November 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
