Lena was the daughter of Elijah and Harriet Pembleton and the sister of Sylvia Pembleton. In 1921, they lived with Lena’s grandparents Walter and Harriet Eggington and other family members at 20, Goodhead Street, Meadows, Nottingham. Later in 1938, Lena married William Sheffield and their daughter Pauline (also lost during the May 9th 1941 air raid) was born in 1939.
10 people were killed when Charnwood Terrace, Ryeland Crescent, Meadows, Nottingham was bombed during the air raid of May 9th 1941.
