Family History

Albert Charles Milsom was born in 1892 at Wilton, he was the son of Albert Edward an estate labourer and Mary Milsom née Isaacs of Main Street, Calverton. Albert was born in 1867 at Corsham, Wiltshire, Mary Ann Isaacs was born in 1868 at Shoreditch they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Marylebone London and had 7 children. In 1911 his parents and siblings are living at Main Street, Calverton, Albert 45 yrs is an estate worker his is living with his wife Mary 43 yrs and 5 of their children. In 1911 Albert Charles has left the family home he is living at Home Farm, Ramsden, Arnold his is 19 yrs and a lodger and a waggoner. Albert Charles married Rebecca Wood (born 29th September 1893 ) on 25th December 1915 at St Peters Church, Mansfield, they had two daughters, Frances born 7th November 1916 and Dorothy born 21st June 1918 they lived at 96 Carter Lane, Mansfield.

Military History

Sapper Albert Charles Milsom enlisted on 14th February 1916 at Mansfield, giving his age as 23 yrs and 360 days, his occupation was that of a coal miner he was posted to the reserves and was mobilised for war on 5th June 1916. He served with the Royal Engineers in 253rd Tunnelling Company. He landed in France on 23rd December 1916 and was demobilised from the Army on 16th February 1919 aged 26 yrs to 96 Carter Lane, Mansfield He died on 5th November 1919 of meningitis and is buried in Mansfield (Nottingham Road) Cemetery.
