Albert Kirk was born in 1890 at Netherfield the son of John a railway engine driver and Sarah Kirk née Reeve of 19 Chandos Street Netherfield Nottingham. John Kirk was born in 1864 at Strelley, Sarah Reeve was born in 1865 at Kimberley, married in 1886 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had further children, Joseph Alfred b1887 Kimberley, Sarah Annie b1892 Netherfield and Elsie b1896 Netherfield. In 1911 the family were living at 8 Manvers Street, Netherfield, John 47 yrs is a railway engine driver for the Great Northern Railway, he is living with his wife and 4 children, Albert is 21 yrs and a railway engine stoker.

Military History

Private Albert Kirk enlisted at Mill Hill, Middlesex whilst residing at Wealdon Hill Middlesex, he served with the 17th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, he was killed in action on 28th April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
