Family History

William Frederick Chambers was born in 1898 the son of Samuel a baker and Judith Chambers née Marshall, William had one younger sister, Florence also born at Colwick in 1904. Samuel was born in 1872 at Ewerby Thorpe, Lincolnshire, Judith Marshall was born in 1869 at Sleaford, married on 28th December 1897 at Silk Willoughby, Sleaford. His father was a baker and in 1911 the family were living at 91 West Banks Sleaford Lincolnshire. At some point the family moved to 39, Addingham Street Upper Wortley Leeds (CWGC).

Military History

Private William Frederick Chambers enlisted at Leeds giving his residence as Upper Wortley Yorkshire. He initially served with the service number 30261 in the Leicestershire Regiment then transferred to the Lincolnshire Regiment as Private 44596. He was taken as a prisoner of war and died of sickness whilst in captivity and is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery Grave Reference: VIII C 6
