William Henry Worsley was born in 1898 at Netherfield the son of William a stationary engine driver on the railways and the late Sarah Worsley née Shelton of Netherfield, Nottinghamshire. William was born in 1876 at Bulwell, Sarah Shelton was born in 1875 at Carlton and died in Derby in 1912 aged 37 yrs, , married in 1896 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had further children, Edith Mary b1892 Carlton and Eva Emily b1902 Carlton. In 1911 the family are living at 60 Brough Street, Derby, William is 35 yrs and a stationary engine driver he is living with his wife and 3 children, William Henry is 12 yrs of age and a scholar

Military History

Private William Henry Worley enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Netherfield. He initialled served with the service number 6555 in the 1/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) He was serving with 'A' Coy 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters when he was killed in action on 11th December 1917 whilst serving in Italy.
