Family History

Arthur Joseph Green was born in 1894 the son of Joseph a railway signalman and Louisa Sarah Green née Wesley and the brother of Louisa Sarah Green of Netherfield. Joseph was born in 1857 Shamford, Leicestershire, Louisa Sarah Wesley was born 1854 in Kent, married in 1881 their marriage was recorded at Bromley, Kent registration district, they had 7 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at 143 Curzon Street Netherfield Nottingham, Joseph 54 yrs is a railway signalman on the Great Northern Railway Arthur Joseph 18 yrs is a tracer also working for the Great Northern Railway.

Military History

Private Arthur Joseph Green, enlisted at Nottingham, he died of wounds on 18th May 1915 and is buried at Bethune Town Cemetery
