John Thomas Lamb married Hilda G Widdowson in 1916 (reg. J/F/M Nottingham). Hilda had a daughter, Gladys Winifred Widdowson, b 1914 (reg. J/A/S Nottingham). According to a notice of John's death in the local paper in 1916, the family lived at 7 Oldknow Street, Nottingham. Hilda married Thomas S Meakin in 1919 and had a second family. She died in 1939.
1st Bn King's Royal Rifle Corps John Thomas Lamb was killed in action on 27 July 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France (Pier and Face 13 A and 13 B).
Note: notices in the local paper gave his name as 'W Lamb' but other details match civil and military records for John Thomas Lamb. Nottingham Evening Post, ’Roll of Honour’, 14 August 1916: ‘Lamb.
