Cecil Rimmington

Cecil was born about 1892, the son of Arthur Fountain (b. Boothby Pagnell, Lincs) and Mary Ann Rimmington (nee Mee, b. Ryhall, Lincs) who were married in 1891. They had three sons, Cecil, Arthur and Herbert. At the time of the 1891 census Arthur and Mary were living with Arthur's parents, George and Maria Rimmington, at 17 Ruskin Street, Nottingham. By 1901 Arthur and Mary had moved to 7 Chaucer Street, Nottingham, and had two sons, Cecil (9) and Arthur George (2). In 1911 they were living at 17 Ruskin Street, Nottingham, with Arthur's widowed father. However, Arthur's wife was not at home on the night of the census; she and their third child, Herbert (7, b. Nottingham) were listed as visitors in the household of John and Elizabeth Howitt at 19 West Parade, Dysart Road, Grantham. Cecil's father, Arthur Fountain, died in June 1938 aged 68. Cecil married Mabel née Roberts (b. abt 1895) in 1914 (Oct/Nov/Dec) and their daughter, Elsie Mary, was born in 1915 (Jan/Feb/Mar); they lived at 13 Ruskin Street. His widow remarried (Tilford) and she and her daughter Elsie Rimmington, now aged 7, both formerly of 17 Ruskin Street, Nottingham, were on the passenger list of SS Montrose (Canadian Pacific Railway) which departed Liverpool on 25 August 1922 and arrived in the port of Quebec the following month. Her husband, Edward Tilford (23, b. abt 1899), also formerly of 17 Ruskin Street, had sailed from Liverpool on the SS Empress of India two months earlier on 23 June 1922, also bound for Quebec where his occupation was going to be 'farming'.
