He was the son of Percy Henry Williamson and of Louise May Williamson (nee Ford), of Nottingham; adopted son and nephew of Elizabeth Ford, of Nottingham.
Williamson was the pilot of 1663 HCU Halifax DG 408 which took off from Rufforth at 15.20 on May 1st 1943 for a training exercise which ended in disaster at about 19.25 in the sea off the French port of Brest. There were no survivors. In addition to Williamson, those lost were Dennis Charles Buttlin, Allan John Dunn, Henry Hinett, John Hunter, Wilfred John Pelham, Dennis William Suffling and Clive Richard Leonard.
