Family History

Ernest Morrell was born in 1888 the son of Samuel a coal miner hewer and Hephzibah Wright Morrell née Hall of 21 Paxton Avenue, Carcroft near Doncaster. Samuel was born in 1858 at Langley Mill, Hephzibah Wright Hall was born in 1860 at Sutton in Ashfield, married in 1880 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they went on to have 10 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family were living at 18 West Avenue, Woodlands near Doncaster, Samuel 53 is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife and 7 of their children.

Military History

Gunner Ernest Morrell enlisted and served with the Royal Field Artillery, he died on 9th February 1919 at Doncaster and is buried at Sutton in Ashfield Cemetery.
