Family History

Arthur Ernest Richardson was born in 1894 at Hucknall and was the son of John Thomas a hairdresser and Mary Ann Richardson née Moor of 10 Edward Street, Warsop. His father John Thomas was born in 1862 at Foleshill Warwickshire, his mother Mary Ann Moor was born in 1859 at London, they were married in 1885 their marriage was recorded in the Coventry registration district, they went on to have 12 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were William b1887 Foleshill, George b1889 Hucknall, Catherine 1891, Hucknall, John 1892 Hucknall, Arthur 1894 Hucknall Albert 1897 Hucknall, Rachel 1899 Hucknall, and Wilfred b1903 Hucknall In the 1911 census the family are living at 10 Edward Street, Warsop and are shown as John 49 yrs a hairdresser, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 52 yrs and their children, William 24 yrs a coal miner hewer, Catherine 20 yrs working at home, John 19 yrs a pony driver, Arthur 127 yrs a pony driver, Albert 14 yrs a pony driver, Rachel 12 yrs working at home, and Wilfred 8 yrs of age.

Military History

Private Arthur Ernest Richardson enlisted at Hucknall whilst residing at Mansfield, he served with the 16th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 8th October 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial, Somme, France.
