Family History

William Morledge (junior) was born in 1876 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late William Morledge (senior) a foundry worker and the late Elizabeth Morledge née Dean William Morledge (senior) was born in 1848 at Derby he died in 1890 aged 52 yrs, Elizabeth Dean was born in Yoxhall, Staffordshire in 1850 she died in 1887 aged 37 yrs, they were married on 8th June 1869 at Yoxhall and went on to have 5 Children. William (junior) married Nellie Arnold (born 6th October 1876 ) on 7th July 1900 they were married at St Marys Church, Nottingham, they had 2 children, William born 1901 and Albert Edward born 29th October 1907. They lived at 13 Bingham Court, Carter Gate, Nottingham. In 1901 and 1911, they lived at 13, Bingham Court, White Cow Lane, Carter Gate, St Mary's, Nottingham. In 1911 William is 33 yrs of age and is an iron warehouseman, he is living with his wife Nellie 34 yrs a lace hand and their two children, William 10 yrs and Albert Edward 3 yrs of age. Commencing 14th October 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military History

Private William Morledge enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 28th March 1918 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
